F. Lee Bailey

F. Lee Bailey is one of the most famous criminal defense attorneys in twentieth century American legal history. He rose to prominence after successfully winning a retrial for Dr. Sam Sheppard in 1966. Shortly thereafter, he obtained Albert DeSalvo’s confession to the Boston Strangler killings. He defended Ernest Medina in court-martial proceedings related to the My Lai Massacre, Patty Hearst of a bank robbery she committed as an alleged hostage of the SLA, and O.J. Simpson of double murder. Bailey was disbarred in Florida (in 2001) and in Massachusetts (in 2003) for unethically gained compensation.
