Handwritten letter addressed to John B. Minor Esq. from Thomas R. Ashby, dated 18 December 1867.  The letter is in response to an earlier letter from Minor posing specific questions about grape cultivation for the purpose of winemaking.  Ashby discusses the variety of grape choices, the optimal number of plants per acre, fertilization, and harvesting.  He lists prices of grape roots and recommends books on the topic to Minor.
