Zenek Podolsky, a landlord, was accused of hiring a gang led by Morris Lender to force low and middle income tenants out of rent-controlled apartments. Lender used tactics including burglary, extortion, and coercion to force tenants out in order to help landlords achieve higher rents or to sell apartments as condiminiums or cooperatives. Prosecutor Joanne Siegmund and Justice Harold J. Rothwax also appear in sketch.
