Handwritten will in Italian, dated 29 Agosto 1614. The cover states, "Testamento di Giulio Cesare Cattanei, [redacted] by Achille Canonici." The following description was provided by Professor Duane Osheim:"Master Giulio Cesare, son of the late master Giovanni Giacopo dei Cattanei, a citizen of Bologna, resident in the capella of san Tomaso del mercato of sound mind and intellect makes his will, first leaving £5 bolognese to his parish to restore any ill-gotten gains from his business dealings" . . . he then lists a series of pious and penitential bequests. Among these he forgives debts owed him by a number of his tenants. He restores the dowry of Camilla del Panisi his wife and provides for her so long as she lives and does not remarry. The properties being conveyed are then listed along with the explanation of how they were acquired. And after other gifts to friends and relatives he names his daughter Caterina as his universal heir.
