Handwritten copy of documentation of a sale of land, dated 5 November 1626. The following description provided by Professor Duane Osheim:The front cover reads, "1626 5 November . . . Cessione di Matteo Ognibene ad Alessandro Benamati di terra acquista da Giovanni Battista Orsoni con patto di francare in S. Venanzio." Translation: "5 November 1626 . . . A sale by Matteo Ognibene to Alessandro Benamati of land in St. Venanzio which he had acquired from Giovanni Battista Orsoni"The document says actually that Matteo had acquired the land from Giovanni Battista Orsoni and his son Giacoo Maria, both are Bolognese citizens from the chapel of S Procula. Further, the buyer is fully identified as Alessandro son of the late Giovanni Giacopo Benamati, a citizen of Bologna. The total area is 102 tavole [ca. 7 hectares] and the land is described. The sale price is £ 177 of Bolognese money. It seems that St Venanzio an outlying settlement in the commune of Bologna. This is a copy made from the cartulary of the late Filippo dei Rossenis, citizen and notary of Bologna by Pomperino Cignanione citizen and notary of Bologna.
