Portrait of John Tayloe Lomax, Professor of Law 1826-1830

In 1826, John Tayloe Lomax was appointed professor of the school of law at the University of Virginia. He resigned that office in 1830 to accept a seat on the bench of the general court of the state as Associate Justice, to which he was unanimously elected by the legislature.
